NACCA

Dear Colleagues,

Dear Colleagues,

Your 2008 Program Committee for the National Conference on College Cost Accounting (NACCA) is pleased to offer an outstanding educational opportunity in conjunction with the annual conference in Atlanta scheduled for October 1 – 3, 2008.

We are offering an optional half-day pre-conference workshop dedicated to the ‘how-to’ and basics of Facilities and Administrative (F&A) cost proposal development and rate calculation.  This workshop will mainly focus on information for ‘newcomers’ in this field helping them become familiar with F&A concepts. Subject matter experts from various institutions representing medical and land grant universities, as well as large and medium research enterprises will compare and contrast their approaches to this large undertaking. Topics will highlight the F&A process/timeline, data gathering, proposal submission, audit, and negotiation processes under both Office of Naval Research (ONR) and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) cognizance.

Attendees will be exposed to basic definitions, allocation methodologies, and more. Presenters will also share methods employed at their institutions for building componentization, space determination and classification - room by room study, Salaries & Wages (S&W), or the Full Time Equivalents (FTE) default, DHHS simplified methodologies, cost share calculations, as well as specific issues for state institutions and medical schools.

This is also a terrific workshop for those who may not be involved in the actual rate calculation process but would like to understand who does the study, when it needs to be done, what are the different types of rates, basic calculation processes, and more.

NACCA continues to offer unique opportunities for those involved in costing and compliance issues at national colleges and universities, so please join us for this pre-conference session.
